Elle Magaize said the Miramonti Boutique Hotel is “hard to find, hard to forget”. While we didn’t find the mountain hotel hard to find, it will indeed be hard to forget! Here are our 10 reasons to love Miramonti Boutique Hotel:
1. The View
Located in the Dolomites 884 meters above the town of Merano, Miramonti Boutique Hotel has sweeping views of the mountains and Merano far below. At sunset, the snow capped South Tyrolean Alps turn shades of pink as the lights of Merano twinkle on. The beautiful St. Katherine church rises up on a hill just below Miramonti Boutique Hotel.
2. Location
Just a 20 minute drive from Merano, Miramonti Boutique Hotel is located close to shopping and the only historic theater in Sud Tirol. In winter, a private ski shuttle delivers hotel guests to Merano 2000 with more than 40 kilometers of pistes, a 3 kilometer long toboggan run, and winter hiking trails.
3. Hospitality
We were spoiled from the moment of our arrival until our departure! Our bags were promptly collected and delivered to our room while we enjoyed a welcome glass of Prosecco on the sun terrace. We were invited to indulge in the afternoon tea time in front of the roaring fireplace. We wanted to do the wine tasting, which only takes place on Wednesday, but owner Klaus arranged for us to have a wine tasting before our dinner. A newsletter is delivered to your room each evening with the next days activities and events, which include things like guided hikes and movie screenings. Even upon our departure, we were sent off with bottles of water for our trip home.
Miramonti Boutique Hotel has its own wellness center that is available for all guests from 2pm – 9pm daily. An indoor pool and sun loungers look out to the mountains. The four different types of saunas offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon and ease tired muscles after a day of skiing or other winter sports. Tea, elderberry infused water, and dried fruit snacks are available throughout the spa. An outdoor jacuzzi is open on the pool terrace and a sun tanning bed is also available for a small charge.
We had a Superior 4th floor room with an amazing view of St. Katherine Church and the South Tyrolean Alps. Since it was a warm winter day, we could sit on our balcony and admire the views. The room is huge with two separate areas: the bedroom with a very comfortable memory foam bed and a sitting room. The bathroom is large and the shower is a massaging rain shower.
The exclusive Panorama Restaurant has just 30 seats and looks out over the mountains and the town of Merano below. A fine dining menu is available from 7pm – 9pm and lunch is available on Sundays.
7. Raclette
Klaus discovered raclette when friends of his invited them to their chalet for dinner. A short while later, Klaus had raclette again in Zermatt, Switzerland. He has his own special twist on it and serves raclette at the request of guests. A block of Appenzeller cheese is put on the raclette and it slowly melts, dripping aromatically onto plates that are then served to us. We eat the cheese with mignon potatoes and sauce. It’s a wonderfully slow and social meal!
8. Wine Tasting
Sud Tirol is famous for its wines and most are produced by small vineyards that participate in a cooperative. Klaus’ staff have carefully selected the finest and highest quality wines of the region and a wine tasting is available for guests. The wine tasting includes 3-4 whites and 3-4 reds as well as snacks to enhance the flavors of the wines, such as bresola, the air dried beef we had.
A wine tour of the area can also be booked on which you’ll visit three cellars in the area and enjoy lunch at nearby Castel Ringberg.
9. Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 7:30am for the early skiers all the way until 11am for the late risers. Home made breads, croissants, and jams are on offer as well as fresh fruits. Eggs are cooked to order and my eggs with cheese and tomatoes were hot and delicious.
10. James Bond
Some parts of James Bond The Spy Who Loved Me were filmed around the Miramonti Boutique Hotel and so to celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond, the hotel shows a James Bond movie every Sunday evening at 8:30pm in the salon. See if you can glimpse some familiar sights!
Know Before You Go
- Double rooms start at €83 per night and packages are available. Late check-out of 5pm is even available for a charge of €25, giving you extra time to enjoy the spa. A romantic, luxury get away is very affordable at Miramonti Boutique Hotel!
- Raclette must be reserved in advance and is €35 per person; Wine tasting must also be reserved in advance and is €20 per person.
- Miramonti Boutique Hotel is easily reached with the GPS coordinates 11°12’32′E and 46°38’59′N
Thank you to Miramonti Boutique Hotel for hosting us for the weekend. Our opinions were in no way swayed by immense amounts of wine and cheese or relaxing aromatherapy in the saunas. All rave reviews are entirely our own!

The hotel is close to a big ski resort, which doesn’t have hotels at the resort itself. And Miramonti was definitely memorable! We wish we could have stayed a few days there.

We’re always on the go, so it was really nice to just relax for a day at Miramonti. And I think the wine was made better by that amazing view!
